We're back! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving break. I sure did! We went to Ixtapa, Mexico for a week. Ahhh...it was so relaxing. I got TWO massages while there at only $25 a pop! Can you believe it? Thankfully it's true.

As for not posting since I returned, the reasons are lack of time (busy decorating for everyone but me) and computer technical problems (lack of knowledge on my part). But we are back now and ready to share. Today's outfit is what I wore on the plane to and from Mexico (yes, I wore it twice as I was NOT going to pay baggage fees). Welcome back!

Rule Changers




I think I have said this before, but all of the so-called "fashion rules" are now obsolete. One of those rules was to not mix black and blue. I'm not sure why, but I did listen to that rule and was very adamant that I would not break it (as recent as 3 months ago). However, I have now decided that I kind of like black and blue together. 

What do you think? Should I break the rules or go back to being a good little rule follower?

One of my favorite stores as of late is JC Penney. Yes, you read that right! Have you been in lately? They have great, affordable basics such as bright, colorful sweaters and jeans, cashmere sweaters, wool pea coats and striped tees. They also carry two great designer lines - Buffalo and Mango. I got this leather vest by Buffalo there. Pretty snazzy, huh?

Winter Rebellion




I dislike winter. I can't stand it. I get totally depressed by the thought of gray skies, cold winds and bare trees. If I could move south in the winter I would. Are you getting the picture? I. Don't. Like. Winter. Why bring it up? Because I felt rebellious against the cold, rainy weather that the morning greeted us with today. So much so that I wore white. And silk. There, take that winter!

Pattern Block





It was such a beautiful Sunday! It got me in the mood to mix things up so I tried to both pattern mix and color block. I think it worked pretty well except for the 40 mph winds that kept threatening to blow up my skirt!

There are only 7 Saturdays til Christmas


Yes, I know the stores barely let Halloween out the door before all the Christmas decorations came out in full force.  It seems like this year has flown by so fast.

 So, today we are taking a break from fashion to think about some gift ideas.  We aren't going to stray to far from fashion but focus on fragrance.  Do you have a signature fragrance?  One that maybe you adopted in  college and now a few years later (15 or so but who is counting), still continue to wear?  One of our most heightened senses is the sense of smell.  Not only do your clothes make a fast first impression about you, but also your fragrance.  So as moms, let's get rid of the burnt toast, spilled milk smell and try out a few fragrances.  Here are a few of my favorite fragrances,

'Tis the season! For warmer clothes, that is. It's been awful chilly lately so putting a t-neck sweater under a blazer was simply the right thing to do today. As you can tell though, I am boycotting coats still. What you see is what you get in my pics! So I was cold today.

Perfectly Posed




Everything was perfect: my to-do list, my subcontractors, my client, my kids. First stop? Drop the kids at school. All aboard! We get in the car and what happens? My. Car. Won't. START!  So I call AAA and they come out and fix it, but I have already lost valuable billable hours. That's life, I guess. Even the best laid plans can get off track sometimes. (Funny, right?)

A Preppy Combo: Green and Navy





I got to spend the weekend camping with my Girl Scout. We climbed trees, rode horses, sang songs, made crafts and of course, ate s'mores! It was a fun weekend with 8 giggly girls and 4 moms and countless memories. Happy 100th Birthday, Girl Scouts!

Something to tweed about!



I'm loving all of the tweed in stores right now. I even found tweed slippers recently! (see UGGS below) As you can see, I donned some tweed J. Crew ankle pants yesterday to meet a client. They are pretty dressy but yet chic when dressed down with a denim shirt and sweatshirt. The shoes, of course, had to come off when my client's mother started moving furniture around. It was pretty darn funny to see 3 women trying to get a couch through 2 doors, one of which was barefoot!
